“My dream as a child was to be a pilot. You see, I was not the best student, I got bored easily. I preferred spending time with my friends, riding a bicycle, playing football and swimming, especially in winter! After I finished high school my father asked if I preferred to go to the university, or join his trade and open another butcher shop. I chose the second. I never liked big cities, the lifestyle there is not for me. I love this place (Galatas, Poros). I was born here and I decided to stay. I want for my butcher shop to be different, to stand out.
I also try to get involved in different projects for the local community. I help clean the beaches and look after the flowers and trees in the village. The projects I especially enjoy are the ones for children. I’m part of the football club for young kids for example. For Christmas and Easter I get involved in donations for children in local schools and the poor people. I try to help whatever way I can. It’s so beautiful here! It’s my neighbourhood, my home. I love it and want to look after it. I hope everyone can contribute in some small way so we can all live better here.
So maybe I never became a pilot, but I feel I fly everyday!”
