How did Bill and Betty spend their first year of retirement in Greece?
We met Betty and Bill earlier this year, about a month before their departure from Live-Bio. They had spent their first year of retirement on our property, witnessing the change of seasons, the heat of the summer, the cooler winter days, the sunrises and sunsets. Coming from North Carolina, USA they were challenged with a slightly different reality and culture, but they started to fit in very quickly. They met most of the village’s inhabitants, Greek and foreign. They made an effort to learn some Greek to be able to communicate with the locals, kudos for that as it is not an easy language! They got to know best places to buy fresh fish, organic vegetables and locally produced wines. Bill was especially fascinated with Tsipouro (Greek spirit produced from the residue of wine press), which he thought was “very clean and good for life”!
Bill and Betty’s story
Her: previously involved with Duke university in North Carolina and a fantastic painter.
Him: highly skilled carpenter creating artisan furniture and wooden structures. Also talented painter.
Bill told us a story of how he fell in love with the view from our property and basically was dreaming of it for a year before they decided to set their roots in the area of Argolida in Greece, home to Live-Bio. They thought it was a perfect place to spend their first year of retirement here, surrounded by nature, in a peaceful environment and watching that famous view from their balcony everyday. Both of them also devoted their time to painting. The local area became an inspiration for a few hundred paintings that they created over the time spent here. Some of their work can be seen on the photographs below.
Betty and Bill were also writing a blog about their experiences in Greece. Here is the link where you can find out more about their adventures: Bill and Betty’s blog
Start of Live-Bio family
Bill and Betty were first guests of Live-Bio. We were extremely lucky to have had them on the property. They gave us a lot of valuable advice, helped with creative ideas, introduced to the local community and captivated us by numerous stories! They are also a start of the Live-Bio family. We hope to see them again in the near future and hear more stories from their travels and new adventures of life!
